On Monday 9th May STEPs were welcomed back to Hartfield’s to continue with our Working Hart Project within the Hartfield’s Retirement Village, which had been seriously interrupted by COVID. The students travelled with one of our job coaches Susan Currell on public transport so they can become familiar with this bus route and then include it in their portfolio of independent travel routes. They had a tour of the complex and spent time with Hartfield’s staff to discuss the work they would be completing and looking at risk assessment’s tool the staff had generously produced. Said that it felt like a little village. Working Hart Project is now in full swing and the students immersed within the Maintenance, Bar and gardens. In September this will extend into the restaurant, café.
Even more exciting news Kate Thompson the Head of Extra Care & Interim Housing Lead, was our key link to setting up the partnership between Joseph Rowntree Trust and Catcote, has been recognised in the Queen’s Jubilee Honours list for a MBE for her continuous work in the care sector. Well done Kate and a very well-deserved recognition!
