The 16 to 19 Tuition Fund 2023 – 2024

Cohort
Young people who have special educational needs and disabilities aged 19-24 and who have an EHC plan

We have 33 ESFA funded learners across 5 different pathways matched to primary SEND needs and learners personal aspirations.

42% of these learners have low prior attainment and are following personalised RARPA programmes. The remaining 58% are working towards accreditation between Entry 2 up to Level 1. The vast majority of these learners are from disadvantaged backgrounds.

All learners have personalised outcome targets linked to the strands of Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) however, the opportunities they had to work towards their targets were greatly reduced due to the legacy of COVID when accessing the local community and employment providers. Quality Assurance mechanism’s show that targets across the strands of ‘employment’ and ‘community access’ showed the lowest gains. These are the areas we feel require additional interventions to help recover lost learning opportunities and greater community involvement.

Funding Total £7,952

Priorities:
1.    provide additional ‘job coaching’ to support learners by job carving (breaking down job roles), support with identifying and developing specific work skills linked to the job role and to support employers to be better informed about the need of our learners

2.     Provide additional careers guidance to increase employer engagement and develop stronger work experience opportunities leading to increased voluntary/ paid employment or progression into supported internships.
